Open to students of intermediate/advanced levels (through auditions), this weekly class introduces various American methods (Stella Adler, Sanford Meisner, Lee Strasberg, and Uta Hagen among others). Taught by Japanese-American actor/director Sei Shiomi, the class explores relaxation and sense memory techniques, emotional/psychological/physical preparation, body-mind coordination, and script analysis through on-stage exercises and scene work.
This class welcomes those seeking real performance experience in order to put their acting skills into practice, as well as those returning to acting after a period of non-practice. French-speakers in need of improving/testing their English language skills on stage are also welcome.
The class is open as well to students who are interested in exploring their directing skills. They will be assigned scenes to direct and arrange rehearsals with other students in order to present their directing work in class.
The year will end with a show in a Paris theatre (4-6 evenings)!

Open to actors, directors and writers by interview and audition only, this theatre and film acting class meets once a week, offering an inspirational platform for both striving and established professionals wishing to refine their talents and craft. The Masterclass explores recreating reality through approaches like private moment, sense memory and creative imagination. Students work on communication and listening skills, improvisation techniques for scenes, character development, and script analysis using The Method. Other techniques employed include Meisner, Viewpoints, and improvisation, with additional emphasis on ensemble work. Directors and actors wishing to develop directing skills can direct scenes for class. Class material includes modern and dramatic classics, successful on and off-Broadway plays, as well as film scripts and original screenplays. Writers can workshop their own material. To aid critical assessment, scenes are documented every semester. An "Open Class" ends the term.
